AlfaRomeo 8C 2900B Lungo Touring Berlinetta. Sold to an Italian enthusiast in Milan, this Touring Berlinetta was completed in the summer of 1938. Following a brief spell in Switzerland, it was imported to the United States by Alfa Romeo distributor Frank Griswold. He fielded the car in the very first Watkins Glen Grand Prix, in 1948.

ThisAlfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Le Mans was born in 1938, encapsulating Carlo Felice Bianchi Anderloni’s then-fresh ideas in the field of aerodynamics, in which Touring would become pre-eminent. After almost half a century of wanderings, this unique Alfa 8C 2900 B was rightfully relocated in the 1980s back to its hometown of Milan.

The8C 2900 was built in two series, the racing 2900A and the road-going 2900B. In May of 1938 Touring delivered the first of their Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Long Wheelbase Lungo Spiders. These early 2900A supercars were capable of matching most other cars on the racing circuit and many of the 2900B models were also raced.
